Obstacle Assessment
Aeronautical studies to assess the influence of natural and man-made objects on the operation of aeroplanes.
Arrangements should be made to enable the appropriate authority to be consulted concerning proposed construction beyond the limits of the obstacle limitation surfaces that extend above a height established by that authority, in order to permit an aeronautical study of the effect of such construction on the operation of aeroplanes.
Evaluation can be performed for a single object (e.g. a temporary crane or a building) or for clusters of obstacles (e.g. wind parks). These studies may be some cases required by Civil Aviation Authorities to obtain permission to locate a new object.
IBG Sweden are providing assistance to airport operators, ANSPs and regulators to fulfil their duties in this field.
